Why is my profile so long?

  • Your profile page was designed to allow members to put in as much valuable information about themselves and their films as possible. We wanted people visiting both for enjoyment of films and for those hiring talent to find comprehensive information on site, to help them know who you are. We thought this could overall only be a plus. This also gives the filmmaker a chance to really talk about themselves and their films and to promote their skills as much as possible.

  • How do I see films?

  • On the left navigation bar, you'll see film genres. Just click on whichever genre interests you, and up will come film box covers. Click on any box cover to get detailed information on that film and to watch a trailer. Anytime you want to look at a different genre of films, just click on the new category on the left list and you will be taken to the first page of the category.

  • How do I watch the trailers?

  • When you click on the category section of films on the left navigation bar, it will take you to a DVD box cover area of films and filmmakers. Click on film box cover you want to see and it will take you into the profile section of the filmmaker or talent. On this page you will see a full profile including a button that says Preview. Click that and the trailer will begin.

  • How long does it take to get my information up on site after it is submitted?

  • After all your information is collected and we have received your trailer, it will usually take 48-72 hours to have your page up.

  • If I am looking for talent is there a fee?

  • No. Viewing all information on the site is free.

  • If I am looking for talent do I need to register or become a member?

  • No, if you are browsing through filmmaker talent and look at trailers for an upcoming project, you do not have to become a member. However, you would need to register (which is free) in order to send a contact email to a filmmaker. Exploring business links does not require registration.

  • How do I conduct my searches?

  • On the top yellow navigation bar, click Search IFN Talent. On the drop down menu, click whichever search you want to conduct. Search for Filmmakers. Search for Businesses. A page will appear with a search form, follow the directions for filling it out. Fill out as much of the search form as you think is necessary to find the talent you need. If there are things on the search form you do not need, just leave them blank and fill in only what you need. There are other highlighted links you will see located throughout the site that will take you to the talent search form.

  • How do I conduct a search for business?

  • The easiest way to get to the business search is to click the yellow Business Mall tab at the top of the page. This will take you to the front page of the Business Mall section where the Premium links to businesses will be located. You will also see a highlighted box on this page to complete a full search of all businesses located on the site. Just click on this box and you will see a listing of categories. Look in the drop down menu in a specific category and you will see an alphabetical listing of the different types of businesses. When you see the listing you are looking for click on it and it will pull up all businesses listed under that specialty. If you do not see the type of business you are looking for under one drop down listing, just try a different category to see if it is there. You will also see other highlighted links located throughout the site that will take you directly to the business search area from different locations on the site.

  • How do I get in touch with talent I need?

  • On their profile page, you will find a send email button. Click that, up will come a page to send them an email that you are interested in talking further. Feel free to contact them.

  • Why are there four different drop down menus in the business area?

  • The listings of businesses are broken down into four categories to make it easier to find what you are looking for. If you want to find an editor, you would look in the Post-Production category as that is where you would most likely need an editor. Because some businesses are used at different times during a project, if you do not see what you need listed in a category you first thought, please check under a different heading to see if it is there.

  • How do I find out information about memberships?

  • To review the various memberships available, go to the Join Us yellow tab at the top of the page. Click on this and it will take you to the list of memberships. Click on which you are interested in and see what we have to offer.

  • Is your site secure with credit card numbers?

  • Yes. 128-encryption

  • How do I pay for membership?

  • We accept all major credit cards.

  • How can I find out what your site can do for me?

  • If you go to About Us and Mission Statement you will read the goals we are trying to accomplish. Depending on what you are looking for you should be able to find everything you need under the category you are interested in.

  • What happens if I order a movie and it does not arrive, is the wrong movie, or is damaged?

  • To Come.

  • How do I get my DVD to you for sales?

  • Send us an email notifying IFN that you wish to place your DVD on site for sale. We will contact you and go from there to get you film for sale on site. See the Royalty Rewards section of the site for basic information.

  • How do I get my trailer onto your site?

  • We will have you FTP your trailer to us. We will send you all instructions on how to FTP trailers.

  • Can I pay by check?

  • You can, but we will not be able to place your information on site until the check has cleared.

  • What happens if I have forgotten my password?

  • Hit the link - forgot my password, and follow the directions given.

  • Why do you use my email address as my user ID?

  • Because each email address is unique to its user, this avoids having to try different user ID names to see if they are taken by other members or not. Just put in your email, and then your password and this will be remembered in your computer if you desire, so you don't have to do this every time you come on site.

  • System Requirements

  • To view streaming previews on IFN, you need Microsoft's Windows Media Player installed on your computer. To download the latest version of Windows Media Player, visit the Microsoft Web site by clicking the icon below.

  • Selecting Your Connection Speed

Selecting your connection speed on a specific movie page allows you to choose the playback speed of the video in kilobits per second, or Kbps.
  • 28.8K or 56K: Click on one of these options if you connect to the Internet via a standard modem.
  • Cable/DSL/ISDN/LAN: Click on this option if your computer is connected to the Internet via cable, DSL, ISDN, LAN or some other high-speed connection.

  • Note: If you chose a high-speed connection and experience interruptions in the video or audio, try switching to a lower connection speed when viewing previews. (For example, if you chose 56K, try 28.8K; or, if you selected Cable/DSL/ISDN/LAN, switch to 56K.) Allow 10 to 15 seconds for the video to begin playing. For additional help, visit Microsoft's Windows Media Player FAQ page.

Is there a Privacy Policy for my information?

  • We respect your right to privacy on IFN. Please read the link Privacy Policy for details.

  • The trailers will not play when I try to see a preview?

  • It could be that you do not have the necessary player for viewing a trailer. The trailers will play on MS Media Player 9. When you see the box that comes up asking you to download the player, click yes and you should be able to see trailers after that.

  • What if my web site domain name changes as a business?

  • Go to the link "My Account". Update any information you need to related to your membership in the appropriate areas. You can easily change your URL name in this section. Updates will take effect within 48-72 hours.

  • What does Pre-Production and the rest of the listings in the business mall mean?

  • These are the listings of the four categories for basically making a film. There are different times that different businesses might be needed during the making of a film. Editing would be needed after the film is already shot and is ready to be edited, this would be in Post Production. The listings are only a general guide, so if you don't find what you need in one of the drop down category listings, it is probably listed alphabetically in one of the other drop down category listings.

  • What if I am registered and my email address changes?

  • Go to My Account link and update your information. Changes take effect within 48-72 hours.

  • What if I am receiving films to my address and I move?

  • Go to My Account link and update your information. Changes take effect within 48-72 hours.

  • What if I do not need all the skills listed in the Search Talent Form.

  • If you are looking for talent, but it is in a general way, then you should leave parts of the form empty that you are not concerned with. If you don't specifically need a skill that is listed in the search form, then just leave it blank. This broadens your search for what you are looking for. The more detailed you make the search by skills, the fewer matches will come up.

  • So if I just need a Cinematographer who knows how to do Digital work, what should I do?

  • In the search form you will see the drop down menu in which you will find Cinematographers listed. Click on that. With just this search all cinematographers listed in the database will come up, with all sorts of various talents and experience. If you then put in digital, then only those cinematographers who also have digital experience, and this goes on, if you put in a cinematographer with digital who only speaks Spanish, then you have narrowed the list to just a few people. So the fewer questions on the form you answer the more hits you will get. The more answers, the fewer the hits.

  • Do I have to answer every question on the Filmmaker Profile Page?

  • No. But we encourage you to fill out as much as you can. Put in as much information or as little information as you want. The more information you put in the more you provide to people who are interested in you. If a question asks you to list your experience with a piece of equipment, or in a specific field of work, and you have no experience, then leave that question blank. Leaving a question blank that has no relevance to your work will not be detrimental to the form. It is more detrimental to put down information on the form that is not true.

  • Should I just answer questions on the form to try to get more work?

  • No. It does not do you any good to lie on the form. If you do get called or hired for a specific talent you put down in your profile and you lied about it, then the person calling will know right you don't have experience with the equipment needed. It only hurts your reputation in the long run and people will remember.

  • How do I get the $20 referral fee?

  • Be a member. Refer a friend who then becomes a paying member. You get $20.

  • What if I want to change my profile?

  • Yes, you can change your profile in your web page as often as you like. Each change takes 24-48 hours to implement allowing us time to review. Go to My Account to make the appropriate changes.

  • How do I change my trailer?

  • Can I change my photos?

  • Yes, you can change the photos in your web page as often as you like. Each change takes 24-48 hours to implement allowing us time to review new photos posted to the site. Go to My Account to make your changes.
